November By Any Other Place

So the other day I left the Northeast and traveled almost a thousand miles, just to get out of the cold. Well, lo and behold, it turns out that Florida has winter, too!

It rained the day I got here.

The cloud cover broke up a little bit. But still, the beach is gray and wind-swept. Maybe, no matter where you go, you can't escape November.

Nevertheless, there's a different feel. The coast is windswept, but not cold. Damp but not frozen. Lonely, but not bitter.

And, a surprise for me anyway, the dunes were dotted with flowers, brightening up the gloom of the darkening skies.

Those pictures are wonderful. I especially like the mood of the third one. Lovely, even if not what you were expecting. :-)

Those flowers are pretty. Here in Hawaii, we have the wet and dry seasons. What is remarkable about this year is that no hurricanes bothered us.

I agree with DJan. Love that 3rd pic! Maybe you need to go to Hawaii for sun and warmth right now?

That third pic is beautiful.

We are having a mild November here. Unexpected.

For Floridians who live on the Gulf side, cooler, stormier weather may help put an end to the miserable red tide that has become a regular, unwanted, and consistent visitor. Of course, without the grey and storms, would sunshine be as sweet?

Yikes, hope it warms up for you. When I lived there I loved the few days I could wear a coat but I always felt sorry for those who spent good money for sunshine not to show.

Hi Tom! Enjoy your time in Florida! But I still think one of these days you need to travel to So. Cal to do some golfing . Would love to meet you in person and you can play golf with my husband Thom too. Just say when. :-)

Yes, I have friends in Florida "enjoying" the cold. They have winter coats on in their photos! STill it is lovely.

I was thinking Tucson or SanDiego for you. Here in Northern Ca our weather has been in the 70's and sunny but that is unusual as it's usually raining by now. Enjoy Florida though and I hope it warms up for you.

I agree with Kathy about SoCal. It's still warm here. In fact, yesterday was kind of hot. Although we do have cold spells, once in a while.

Wow! You're an amazing photographer! Living in Connecticut, we start bracing for the cold about now. So far, so good. Sounds like you have the right attitude, appreciating the cold with the warm.

If there are flowers it isn't winter by any stretch of my imagination.

November does have its uses. Once we get through it, we can truly appreciate the contrast with other months! And spring is so much sweeter, when we have survived November!

We did drop into the 50's in Orlando this past weekend. Still surprised, though, by the amount of Ugg boots I'm seeing people wear. It's not cold, yet.

Sometimes you just can't escape that cold weather wherever you go. You would think Florida would be a good place to go to warm up. Thanks for sharing the photos. Have a wonderful weekend.
