Walk in the Sand

If you're in Florida there's no better thing to do at the end of the day than take a walk on the beach. Last night I came across a pretty impressive sand castle.

It was part of a whole royal complex . . .

     Here's the entrance to the palace . . .

     But nothing lasts forever . . .

You can already see from the shadows that it's getting toward sunset. Here's the view out into the Gulf of Mexico . . .

     And a few minutes later . . .

Good night to all, and to all a good night.

Quite a wonderful castle in the sand. I love walking along the beach, too. I'm glad you're having such a great time. :-)

Thanks for sharing your sundown moments.

The sun set is beautiful over the water -- and so fleeting as well. Where I lived in the mountains of Vermont, one could watch the sun set then run a half mile up the road and watch it again, drive toward the lake and watch it yet again.

Sand is such a wonderfully malleable material. I love playing with it; no reason kids should have all the fun.

How lovely, Tom.

I have a sister, her sons, and her sons' wives and children in Pensacola. Sad to say, she and I argue so much that she becomes too mad to write for months at a time. I've come to accept this, and it does free-up my computer time to write to people with whom I get along better.

Thanks so much for the peaceful photos.

You are absolutely right about evening walks on the beach! We are about a mile from the ocean, but we'd have to get in a car and deal with traffic, so we seldom take advantage of our proximity. So much better to just walk out your door! How warm is the water where you are?

Glad to see that you are enjoying your vacation. Please keep on sending pics so that all of us in cooler climates can enjoy the warmth vicariously.

Stephen, I agree. Janie, It's amazing how far a mile can be, isn't it? And Snowbrush, as a man with two sisters, I'd like to say ... try to be nice to your sister!

Sunsets over the ocean spectacular -- sand castle confirms everything temporary if we can survive til the tide comes in.

Lovely. My grandmother lived on the West Coast of Florida til she died. We lived there in the 1960s. Its the best side.

Absolutely beautiful. I've decided to consider Florida on my snowbirding for next year plan.
