To Make You Feel Good ...

I realize that a few people retire to the north country, or never leave the north country, in which case these pictures will leave you -- er -- cold.

However, for most of you -- for people who live where it doesn't snow in March -- I thought these photos from yesterday might make you feel a little warmer, a little less homesick, a little happier that you moved down to the lower latitudes. Or, if you're on the West Coast, somewhere near the moderating influence of the Pacific ocean.

Punxsutawney Phil, who lives in Punxsutawney, Pa., which is in the middle-of-nowhere, Pennsylvania, came out a couple of weeks ago and, if you remember, he did not see it shadow. That's the signal for an early spring.

Today, it looks like he may be wrong. But what do they say about the darkest hour before dawn?

Around here, anyway, the weather report predicts it will reach the mid-60s by Tuesday, and hit 70 degrees by Wednesday. I think ... maybe, just possibly, I can already see a few green shoots coming up through the snow.

I'm one of those who lives near the moderating influence of the Pacific Ocean on the west coast. So I enjoyed looking at your pictures, but we won't see 70 degrees for months! :-)

DJan, you're up early! (5:20 Pacific time). You walking today?

I guess I won't complain about the temps dipping below 70 then.

I'm grateful for our moderate NW climate. Sunny afternoon in the sixties yesterday. Not an every day event in March but no snow. Walked in the park and watched the ducks. Mellow.

When I moved away from northeast snow thirty-two years ago, a friend asked if I would miss seeing the beauty of fresh fallen snow. My reply? Send photos!

Thank you for photos!

Those of us in the deep South think the snow is so beautiful.

Yes, we got the loveliest snowfall and then very cold and now sun is out and most is melted.

They are talking about 40s here this coming week. Maybe by next weekend we will start seeing some actual bare ground! Maybe. The sap will start running in the maples for a quick syruping season.

Phil's record is not very good so I'm not surprised if he's once again wrong. I think I read he's wrong 67% of the time.

As a midwesterner, we have a little bit of everything. I actually enjoy the change of seasons--there's not much chance of boredom. The best thing about being retired is having a choice about whether or not I want to get out during nasty weather. Sometimes I stay home and watch mother nature work her magic.

I can tell I am getting old because I do not miss the pretty part of snow and only think about the cold, the clothes, the driving hazard, the mess.

I love snow. I do not love rain where we live in Washington. 82 today in Tucson.

I prefer Hawaiian weather.

I can't respond to your tootle post as it says your blog post has vanished. I was going to add my 2c worth.

Weather, we're having a freaky winter, very little snow, lots of rain and temperatures at a record high.

Wisewebwoman, you have sharp eyes! I'm working on a "tootle" post. I published it by mistake, instead of saving it, and so it appeared briefly on the site. I will post it probably later this week. Just for the record, I too like the change of seasons. It's just that I prefer longer springs and summers, and shorter winters. I guess I'm in the majority in that respect.

Yes. Isn't it wonderful up north? I live in Ohio. And the weather is just crazy. This year we had a total of about 4". Last year we got dumped on. With more than 4 feet oh the joy! Angela. Whatagecaniretireat.com Nice pictures
