Baby, It's Cold Outside!

     Yesterday, at home . . .

it was snowy and cold . . .

So I went to Florida, where . . .  hey, wait a second, it was 28 degrees when I went outside today! And the place was pretty much abandoned!

But hope springs eternal. I met a guy on the beach. He told me it's going to be 70 degrees by Friday. Think I'm going in?

Yeah, I am also headed south in a week and a half. Trying to thaw my joints so that I can learn to walk again.

Been in Florida for 2 weeks already. No matter how cold it has gotten here, it's a helluva lot better than in NY.
Tomorrow (Wednesday)temps will back up to the 60's, then 70's next day and 80's by friday.
Enjoy your stay here.

I am!

They are saying 80s for Venice by the week's end, but it was darn nippy this morning.

Brrrr! I'm going to Florida in February and I'm looking forward to it being sunny and warm... right? :-)

It is my firm belief that 70 degrees, or even 28 degrees, feels warmer when you're surrounded by green leaves, blue sky, and ocean.
The breast of the earth there is still warm, not frozen cold to its heart.

The water would be relatively warm... probably in the 70's... and feel just fine. getting out, however, would be a problem.

Pensacola waters were (just) under 50 degrees F in a recent listing. The warmest Florida waters in the listing were just over 64 degrees F at Blackwater Sound. I left nothing in Florida when, after 26 months, I left in 1983 - to go to sunny New Mexico! Were it not for family, I'd still be in NM.

Anon, try this:

Always warmer water than air.

Florida gets cold too, but when Florida sneezes New York gets pneumonia.

You made the right decision. I hope you enjoy your stay in Florida.

My bad! Somehow, my first comment went astray. On my second attempt, I failed to "sign" the comment. Sorry.

Douglas--Thanks for the URL. Perhaps I had seen only part of the listing as I don't recall seeing the Keys (where the temperatures do show as being in the 70s), at all.

P.S. In the summer, the air gets warmer than the water - at least, it did where I was (Tyndall AFB).

It was pretty cold here in GA this week. I even saw a liberal with his hands in his own pockets.
