Sightings from the Beach

I admit to being a Snowbird -- two weeks in Florida and a month in South Carolina. Why? Because it's cold up north. And we have children and grandchildren here. The other day I got up to watch the sun rise over the Atlantic ocean, at 7:09 a.m.

A few other people were out and about as well.

Here's the view from our airbnb, overlooking the wetlands, when I got back home and had breakfast on the deck.

We are staying in a beach town outside of Charleston. Pretty much every day it's chilly in the morning, but the temperatures typically hit 70 degrees by mid-afternoon, and the snows are far away. It's a funky little place where beach-side bungalows . . .

     . . . sit next to million-dollar mansions.

We stopped for lunch at a local fish place.

Later, the wind started to kick up, and we went out to the pier.

But the breeze didn't seem to bother this beach-dweller.

Later in the afternoon we started back home . . .

We stopped off at the west end of our barrier island to witness the end of the day . . .

I marked the time of sunset at 5:58 p.m. A nice day at the beach. Tomorrow we'll do it again..

Hi Tom! Glad to hear you are staying nicely warm and have escaped to the beach. Yes, being a snow bird isn't bad but I'm very happy being a "sun bird" which is the exact opposite. We escape the heat of the summer to cooler temps. But either way, isn't it nice to have that option at this stage of our lives? ~Kathy

It has been chillier than usual this winter in Tucson. I could use a little of the warmth where you are.

I do believe if I could snowbird myself I would drive to New Mexico in November and stay till April.

Lovely shots!

I live in Hawaii, enjoy the warm climate, and never, never go to the beach.

Any room for some of us (your loyal readers) in your beach house? We're freezing here, in the rest of the country!

You baby boomers are literally the most evil generation to ever exist. You are all psychopaths. You destroyed your own children's future, destroyed the economy, and then you sit back and laugh smugly about it. Well guess what, you are all going to end up in retirement homes and there is ALREADY a ton of cases of white boomers being abused by the African-Americans and Mexican-Americans and Asian-Americans on their staff. You boomers destroyed your own children's future and so even if your children WANTED to help you, they would be incapable of doing so financially. I hope you boomers enjoy the retirement homes, and enjoy getting abused by all the blacks and mexicans and asians who work as nurses there! LOL!!! I guess what I'm really trying to say is, can you baby boomers hurry up and fucking drop dead already?

Love the pictures. It is the dream! My husband and I just moved to Florida in January to escape the cold.

Sightseeing around different holiday places in the world has its own kind of joy. But, the only thing that touches your soul in a way like no other is the sunset. Spending your day watching the sunset with your favorite person is just exceptional.
