... a couple of days make. I got home last night from three weeks in Florida. Visiting family. Playing golf with old friends and new (including Douglas over at
Boomer Musings who, as it turns out, is a better golfer than I am). Meeting a friendly group of fellow Snowbirds at a Bonita Springs table tennis club. Walking the beach. Enjoying a brief brush with Disney. Lolling around various restaurants sampling wares from all parts of the menu. But aside from all that, here is a picture of my backyard on Sunday:
And here is a picture of my backyard this morning when I woke up:
And you wonder why so many of us retired folks turn into Snowbirds!

I hear ya!!!!!!!
There is room for you here in Paradise. And you just happened to be there when I had a good day at golf.
Both pictures are appealing in their own way but I prefer the one with the ocean. No surprise there....
I spent a week in Fort Lauderdale. I love going where there are palm trees. The camelias and buganvilias were blooming. Although we had a few days of clouds and a little rain, most days were in the 70s. I returned to the Seattle area where it was the usual 45 degrees.

Because we live in the desert, we are chomping at the bit to drive up NORTH to our cabin in the woods where it has SNOWED!! But I have to say,I love my desert--a tiny bit of snow is fun, living in it full time would not be!!
Looks like you have the best of both, Tom! Florida AND your home both look wonderful. But I know one has to do much more than just admire new-fallen snow. Those who can afford two homes or long-term rentals certainly do have good lives -- though, as a full-timer here in Arizona, I find the warmer weather (rather than our chilly but sunny winters) more fun.
Just to clarify: I have one home. The backyard in Florida is the view from in back of the motel where I was staying for a few days -- after you walked across the parking lot, down a path that skirted a private home, and came out at the beach. Still, it was really nice.
We love our winters in Venice, FL. I crave sunshine.
There are many, many reasons that you need to be protected by insurance as a homeowner. Even if someone is trespassing on your property and gets attacked by your dog, you could be on the hook for the hospital bills.
