What the Dog Sitter Knows

I'm dog sitting for my daughter for a few weeks. She's between apartments, staying with a friend, sleeping on the living room floor, in a building where they don't allow pets.

So for the time being we have two dogs in our house. They are both "mixed breeds" -- a term we prefer over "mutt." There's B's dog, who's always with us:

She knows how to relax

And my daughter's dog, who's with us until sometime in June:

And she's ready for anything

I'm sure you've all heard the Groucho Marx quote about dogs:  "Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read."

A lot of wisdom has been inspired by dogs:

Golda Meir observed, "The dog that trots about finds the bone."

Mark Twain wrote, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight; it's the size of the fight in the dog."

Ann Landers warned, "Don't accept your dog's admiration as conclusive evidence that you are wonderful."

Abraham Lincoln pondered, "If you call a tail a leg how many legs has a dog? Five? No. Calling a tail a leg don't make it a leg."

And Will Rogers admitted, "I love a dog. He does nothing for political reasons."

As for daughters, well, it was Garrison Keillor who said, "The father of a daughter is nothing but a high-class hostage ... when she says, 'Daddy I need to ask you something,' he is a pat of butter in a frying pan."

We are mush when it comes to our kids and grandkids. Good luck with the two dogs. I guess you will get plenty of exercise!

We're in the best of all dogie worlds.
We no longer own one, but get and give love (and a bit of exercise) often when we agree to sit for our son't little Pearl.

All these truths are self-evident.

I never had a daughter but I know enough folks who have to know that last quote is so very true.

My first thought was, well, it's just the dog living with you, and not the daughter.

Love all my kids, but not as live ins.

Love the quotes!

Our only moved to NYC could not take her cat, guess who ended up with her cat, miss cody, my hubs never refuses to give our daughter anything, she is our only looks like him, tall and light and big azure blue eyes and golden light blonde hair, just like him, they both are so much alike it is ridiculous! She is the first week of November he is the end of October, Scorpio's and intensely private people..He always tells her darlin if you need anything your Mom and Daddy are here for you..such is the life of an only daughter, I would never know in the middle to last of a huge family, my Mom died when I was young and my hubs the 1st child of a second marriage his sister was 17 and already married and on her own so he was the oldest, and in my opinion the best of the whole lot!
