There's no such thing as a real vacation or even a real weekend anymore. I feel incredibly lucky to have escaped the madness at age 62. However, I am holding off on SS as long as possible. Full retirement age, at a minimum.Retirement Confidentialhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11149555941609931468noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626594980028435818.post-18455260103296193782019-01-28T15:49:45.333-05:002019-01-28T15:49:45.333-05:00Important information to consider. Far easier for someone with an office job to work until 70 than a construction worker. But then an office worker has their own landmines to step around when most corporations are looking to get younger workers at cheaper pay.Jenniferhttp://unfoldandbegin.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626594980028435818.post-30576077637667422019-01-28T00:31:48.738-05:002019-01-28T00:31:48.738-05:00People are living so much longer now, that it make...People are living so much longer now, that it makes sense to raise the retirement age, by at least a couple of years. I worried a lot about whether or not I would have enough money once I retired, but a few years later, I'm happy to say that ends do meet, and life is good. I am concerned about the financial well-being of our children and grandchildren, though.Diane Dahlihttp://www.stilltheluckyfew.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626594980028435818.post-38492231232913862962019-01-27T13:11:26.605-05:002019-01-27T13:11:26.605-05:00I'm pretty sure a way will be found to maintai...I'm pretty sure a way will be found to maintain Social Security. I am getting a spousal benefit now, which isn't much, but the amount I will get at 70 would be enough to squeak by should it end up being the only thing I have. I will also have to move to keep life more affordable.Jonohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01171465643644263860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626594980028435818.post-6920499904965012232019-01-26T22:53:44.215-05:002019-01-26T22:53:44.215-05:00Hi Tom! My husband and I are both still working (at least part time) and have no intention of drawing on SS until we need that money to replace the income we are now receiving. it doesn't make ANY sense to me to continue working and pay all that out in taxes. Far better to wait at least until full retirement age (somewhere around 66+) than to take it early. But so many people I know are acting in fear and taking it at 62 and then paying heavy taxes on it. I also think it a bit strange that everyone seems to think they are going to live a LONG life, certainly longer than their parents, but can't wait to take SS as quickly as possible. Just another example of people not planning for their retirement. ~KathyKathy @ SMART Living 365.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12392736262783641661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626594980028435818.post-90851565852886729052019-01-26T18:29:06.521-05:002019-01-26T18:29:06.521-05:00I've been receiving Social Security for more t...I've been receiving Social Security for more than a decade now.
