Some took them pretty seriously, others thought they were mostly just entertaining columns, sometimes laughable -- as is our life situation at times tho often not until in retrospect. Always thot their estrangement given the reasons known to the public was ridiculous, but suppose there was sister baggage from over the years we didn't know. joaredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09999395062839739698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626594980028435818.post-62760567279559475292016-10-26T11:29:09.078-04:002016-10-26T11:29:09.078-04:00Being a Brit I had never heard of Ann Landers so t...Being a Brit I had never heard of Ann Landers so that proved to be a really interesting read for me.ThanksJohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04025838045532433538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626594980028435818.post-90742836567853021762016-10-25T23:19:27.187-04:002016-10-25T23:19:27.187-04:00Ooops! I've long been a newspaper fanatic, so read the columns by both sisters for years. Agree that the journalism profession was off base in the way advice columns were scorned. I think that there has long been a news hierarchy, with world news, political news, and the like at the top, and things like advice columns, food columns, and heartwarming stories (fluff pieces) at the bottom receiving little respect. Gendered? Yes. Is it changing? I think so, but slowly.

JudeDr Sock https://www.blogger.com/profile/13378594360241846301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626594980028435818.post-90977430542842571122016-10-25T00:43:18.339-04:002016-10-25T00:43:18.339-04:00I needed to keep reading until you mentioned about...I needed to keep reading until you mentioned about the previous writer of the column dying--then I knew exactly who you were writing about.
